Becoming a foster family for Wet Nose Rescue
Wet Nose Rescue is a 100% foster-based organization, meaning we rely on foster families to care for adult dogs and puppies until they are adopted. We don’t kennel dogs at our adoption center, as we believe fostering in a home helps dogs become more socialized and better prepared for their forever homes.
As a foster parent, you'll be:
- Helping a dog escape the stress of shelter life.
- Freeing up space in the shelter for another dog in need.
- Socializing the dog to a home environment, including around other pets and people.
- Giving a dog a chance at a better life.
What you need to know:
- You must be 18 or older and provide a safe, loving environment.
- You won’t need to find a home for the dog – Wet Nose Rescue handles the adoption process.
- You can foster even if you already have pets, as long as they’re up to date on vaccines and are spayed/neutered.
- Wet Nose Rescue provides all supplies, including food, a crate, toys, and covers any medical expenses.
What if I get attached? It’s normal to form a bond with your foster, but knowing you’ve helped save a life is incredibly rewarding. You can even stay in touch with the adopters. If you fall in love, you can adopt your foster dog as long as they’re not already promised to another family.
If you're hesitant, remember: these dogs need you now. They’re alone, scared, and depend on kind people to give them a chance.
Would you consider fostering? It’s a deeply fulfilling experience that makes a huge difference in a dog’s life.
